Where does one start to explain what this event is all about? It is the ultimate in firearms skill & proficiency & firearms design.
Some shooters have an advantage from their life experiences. Those participants got their feet wet on the job from police officers to military men who risked their lives in the most remote forward positions to defend our country.
But most are ordinary people from varying backgrounds and from places as far away as Australia.
But, no matter where the competitors are from or what they do for a living, the devils is in the detail when it comes to excelling in this sport. Forget about building the rifle! That, of course, is a complicated procedure & many look like they were created for a Star Wars film.
The science of creating 1 bullet for this sport would take an hour just to explain in detail. And, when the competitors shared their formulas for success with us you could see how proud they were of their creations. How many epiphanies did they have along the way and will they experience in the future, which puts a smile on their faces and a deep satisfaction in their souls knowing that maybe, just maybe, they created the perfect bullet?
We admire them a great deal.
Oh yes, one other thing- Did you ever seen a barbeque pit 5 feet wide by 30 feet long with 100 chickens on it? Well, maybe you will next time the event is held at Hawks Ridge Gun Club.
